Formulating a Good Diet For You
Article care of midwestsupplements.com
Diet fads are everywhere. You've got the low carb thing, the high carb thing, the soup diet, the grapefruit diet, the low fat diet, the high fat diet, etc., etc. I've lived and trained through every conflicting diet fad there ever has been. I mean, fads have hit every end of the macronutrient spectrum, so I don't know what could possibly be left. I have also gotten in contest shape by following two dramatically different diet approaches, so there is definitely more than one way to get into top physical condition. With all of these diet approaches, how do you know which one is right for you?
First off, all of these diets have one thing in common which makes them work. They all put your body into a calorie defecit somehow. In other words, you are burning more calories than you are taking in. Without a calorie defecit, you won't lose weight. This is also the factor which makes following any diet plan difficult.
When trying to decide which diet to follow, consider the following. Any diet which you won't stay on is COMPLETELY WORTHLESS. If it is a diet that is simply too unrealistic to fit into your lifestyle, then don't even try it. You're just wasting your time.
Try to find a diet where you can incorporate foods that you like. Foods that make you feel good to eat. If you like fruit, don't try to follow a low carb diet. If you like bacon, don't try to follow a high carb diet. If you like them both, realize that you're going to have to make some sacrifices! :-)
The main things to remember are:
1. Eat less calories per day than you are burning.
2. Eat several small meals per day (at least 4 per day, but preferably 5-6. This can include meal replacement or protein shakes.)
3. Follow a diet plan that you can stick with.
4. Eat some form of protein at every meal.
5. Do some form of cardio work at least 3 times per week to keep your metabolism moving during calorie reduction.
6. Take a good multivitamin/mineral to keep your nutrient levels high while consuming a calorie restriced diet.
Good luck and I hope you get into the best shape of your life...or at least the best shape that is now possible!
