How to build upper chest

Posted by Victor

I've read that 90% of bodybuilders today have a weak upper chest. Not sure how much truth lies in that statement. Still when I look at my own chest, I must admit that it lacks upper mass and definition.

Instead of starting my chest routine with the regular bench I now begin with the inclined bench press. Do you think that will make a difference?

Yes, Incline bench work should be your priority to fill out the upper pecs.

The best angle for the bench when doing incline work is at 30 degrees.Anything higher than this, and the majority of the load is shifted to the delts. I like super-setting dumbell inclines, with incline flyes.

Most people have overdeveloped lower pecs from excessive ego bench presses.

Hey Al's right about targeting the workload to your upper pecs. One way to ensure this is to keep your back flush against the bench. Don't arch your back and bring the barbell down to your UPPER chest.
