I Need To Gain Weight

Article care of midwestsupplements.com

This tip is inspired by an email I received from a high school athlete earlier this week. Here it is:

Q: My name is Dan and I am a high school senior and current member of the varsity baseball team. I searched all over the internet to find the right supplement for me and came to your site. I am looking for something to aid me in getting bigger along with my lifting program. I am really not interested in creatine or andro or anything like that. I was thinking more along the lines of whey protein or something to help me gain muscle weight. Also any suggestions on what i should be eating on a daily basis to get bigger would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

A: To gain lean muscular weight, your diet should consist of high protein, moderate carbs and moderate fats. Something to the tune of 40-50% protein, 30-40% carbs, and 20-25% fats. Try eating chicken breast, lean top sirloin steak, sirloin hamburgers, tuna, skim or 1% milk, pasta, potatoes, green vegetables, eggs (mostly whites), oats, any good cereal that you like and fits the percentages, and whole grain breads.

Combine these foods to fit meals however you like as long as you hit the percentages and try to stay at 1.25-1.50 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. So if you weigh 200, eat 250-300 grams of protein per day.

Use Meal Replacements or protein powders as 2-3 of your 6 meals each day. Whey taste good and are the most economic. However, Dymatize TNS and Complete Whey Advantage are probably the two best tasting. I usually go with the cheapest myself! :-) As long as its a good company, it really doesn't matter.

Good luck, and I hope to hear from you again in the future.
