The Forgotten Supplement

With all of the recent advances in sports nutrition supplements in recent years, many athletes are overlooking the most basic of all supplements. I am talking about the mutliple vitamin and mineral supplement.

Have you ever written down everything you eat in a day and then cross referrenced it to see if you are even getting the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of all vitamins and minerals? I did this once. I was completely shocked to find out that I was exremely low on many important nutrients. Put this in context too. I am eating 6 times a day and eating an extremely well balanced diet. It's virtually impossible to get even the paltry RDA amounts which are so grossly outdated it's laughable.

If you choose to supplement nothing else to your diet, at least pick a good mutliple vitamin/mineral supplement. I'm not talking about Centrum or the Wal-mart vitamins either. I'm referring to quality products like those offered by Optimum Nutrition, Twinlabs, and other top nutritional companies.
